The ancient little village of Castellinaldo was built around the sixteenth-century castle which dominates the township. Buildings of note include the parish church, dedicated to San Dalmazzo, the church of the Santa Sindone, the Casa Cottalorda or “Casa Rossa”. Just outside the historic centre there are occasional country chapels charmingly immersed in the natural surroundings.
Castellinaldo is one of 23 municipalities in the Roero district, an area full of splendid landscapes, typical cuisine and excellent wines. The gentle hills with their vineyards, the uncontaminated woods, the “rocche” (eroded hills) and medieval castles are a favourite destination for visitors and tourists in search of artistic treasures, ancient legends and nature’s delicacies cooked according to tradition. This soil provides produce of excellent quality, highly appreciated by visitors: from mushrooms to truffles, honey and the many varieties of peaches, pears, strawberries, chestnuts and asparagus.
Only a few kilometres from Castellinaldo are the towns of Alba and Bra, and the interesting regions of the Langhe and Monferrato
