For guests at the Mongalletto Farm Holiday Centre there is an open-air swimming pool with a view of the castle. The pool can also be booked for use by non-residents. In the territory around the farm there are miles of interconnected footpaths, winding through the sinuous hills, colourful vineyards and fragrant orchards. To enjoy the atmosphere to the full, there are excursions on horseback or by pony-cart. The more adventurous guests can explore beyond the limits of Castellinaldo by hiring scooters or motorbikes, BMW and Vespa Piaggio, from the local dealers. The farm centre wine cellar is at our guests disposal for trying a wide range of prized local wines. Wine tastings can also be booked with the producers nearby.. |
EVENTS
“Not only Arneis” (First Sunday of September). This is an annual encounter with gourmet food and wine on a walk through the most beautiful and evocative parts of the town. Each farmstead is a stage where we can stop off to sample a traditional dish accompanied by a good wine, like Castellinaldo Barbera d’Alba, Nebbiolo, Roero and Roero Arneis.
In May the “European square bowling championship” is held here: with cubic pinewood bowls measuring 7cm per side.
The rules are the same as those of the classical pétanque, but it is played in the historic town centre streets, both uphill and down. Guaranteed entertainment for experts and amateurs alike.
Only 13 miles from Castellinaldo is Alba, capital of the Langhe, where the truffle fair “Fiera Internazionale del Tartufo Bianco d’Alba” is held in October and November. There are a great many wine/gastronomic events, fairs in medieval costume, with banners and the traditional and ironical “Palio degli Asini” – donkey race.
